RTI was called upon to tackle a critical structural issue at the BMS Hopewell campus, where a subgrade tunnel required excavation, evaluation, and repair. Over time, water infiltration and environmental wear had compromised the integrity of the concrete structure, necessitating a long-term waterproofing solution.
Our team began by carefully excavating the affected area, exposing the subgrade tunnel to conduct a thorough structural evaluation. Once the assessment was complete, we proceeded with substantial substrate repairs, addressing cracks, deterioration, and weaknesses in the existing concrete. These repairs were essential to restoring the tunnel’s strength and ensuring a solid foundation for the next phase of work.
To provide long-term protection against moisture penetration, RTI installed a high-performance waterproof membrane system. This advanced solution effectively encapsulated the entire subgrade concrete structure, creating a durable barrier against water intrusion and extending the tunnel’s lifespan.
