RTI was engaged to complete a full-scale exterior restoration of the Edison Shipping Center, a 210,000-square-foot shopping center located on US 1 North in Edison, NJ. This large-scale project required a combination of structural repairs, waterproofing solutions, and aesthetic enhancements to ensure the shopping center remained both functional and visually appealing for tenants and visitors.
Scope of Work
- EIFS Repair & Upgrades
Our team repaired the Exterior Insulation and Finish System (EIFS) across multiple sections of the shopping center, addressing areas of wear, damage, and deterioration. To enhance durability and weather resistance, we applied a new elastomeric coating over the entire EIFS surface, significantly improving its waterproofing properties and extending the lifespan of the building’s façade. - Sealant Joint Replacement & Control Joint Installation
Proper sealing is critical for the longevity and protection of commercial properties. We removed and replaced all exterior sealant joints, ensuring optimal waterproofing and flexibility. Additionally, we cut and installed new control joints in necessary areas to accommodate structural movement and prevent future cracking or damage. - Canopy & Metal Façade Coating System
The canopies and metal façade were treated with a high-performance epoxy and urethane coating system, designed to withstand exposure to the elements while maintaining a sleek, professional appearance. These coatings provide long-term protection against corrosion, UV damage, and environmental wear, preserving the shopping center’s exterior for years to come. - Parking Lot Restriping
After completing the building restoration, we turned our attention to the shopping center’s parking lot, giving it a fresh, professional look by restriping all parking spaces. This final touch not only enhanced the aesthetic appeal of the property but also improved traffic flow and safety for shoppers and tenants.
